Trenkel in action for Wakering on Saturday
“I start training with Southend united on Monday morning,“ said Trenkel after Great Wakering Rovers 3-1 win over Berkhamsted Town in the Ryman League Division Two on Saturday. Trenkel who has played 36 times for Rovers and scored eight goals - five this season - can’t wait for his chance. “I'm really looking forward to this chance. Rob Newman has asked me to come down for a weeks training and hopefully a reserve game and then take it from there,” said the Wakering youngster who played in a central midfield role on Saturday.

Blues Reserves are due to travel down to Cheltenham Town on Wednesday for a 2.00pm Kick-off in the Avon Insurance Combination League and when told of this Trenkel said: “That would be great if I got a reserve team appearance, that’s a fair way to go for a first start but I would definately be up for it."

Trenkel put in a solid display at Burroughs Park on Saturday. For an eighteen year old he was strong and robust and looked like a taller version of Stuart Thurgood. His display was more workman-like than skilful, but he deserves his chance with the Blues after impressing the locals during the season.

Despite Rob Newman denying to The Little Gazette that he was going to give Dan Trenkel a chance, young Trenkel joins the Blues on Monday Morning for training.
