Heskey starts against Sweden.
England coach Sven Goran Eriksson has slammed Liverpool striker Emile Heskey's critics by announcing that the strong frontman will definately be in the starting line-up for England's opening Group F encounter with the manager's home nation, Sweden, on Sunday.

Heskey, playing in a wide left role, failed to impress during yesterday's 2-2 friendly draw with Cameroon, Robbie Fowler's last minute header saving England from an embarassing defeat after Darius Vassell had netted the first English equaliser.

"Whether it is up front, to the left or to the right, he will play" announced Eriksson. "Maybe I should not come out at this time and say that I believe in Heskey and what he can do for England, but I have" the Swede continued.

Meanwhile injured duo, goalkeeper David Seaman (groin) and full back Ashley Cole (knee) will reyturn to full training tomorrow and are both expected to be named amongst the starting eleven against Sweden. They could also be joined on the training pitch by Nicky Butt.

David Beckham trains before Sunday's match with Cameroon.

Kieron Dyer and David Beckham, who was seen kicking with his left foot before and after the Cameroon match, will both step up their training tomorrow but will not join full traing just yet. Rumours suggested that these two players may return home, but Eriksson comprehensively dismissed these claims, suggesting that Beckham at least should polay some part during Sunday's opening match.

Of course should Beckham not be fit for the Swedish, a start will loom for young Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves, and Eriksson has no doubts that the Canadian-born youngster is capable of doing a job in the heart of the English engine room, "We can put him anywhere in the midfield and he would do a god job. He has improved a lot" said the England Coach.
