Dudfield: I'm Still Not Sure What The Future Holds

Dudfield’s contract with the Blues expired today, and with no contract between the 25-year-old and the club having been finalised, the former Leicester City striker’s future is currently up in the air. "I will have to wait and see what happens but right now I'm really not sure what the future holds for me," Dudfield explained to Echo reporter Chris Phillips.

Lawrie scored seven goals from 21 starts and 25 substitute appearances last season, however having turned down Steve Tilson’s original contract offer, Dudfield isn’t really sure whether he is actually wanted by the Blues. And with interest from Bristol Rovers and now, also from Peterborough United, Dudfield confirmed he was puzzled about his current situation: "It's a really weird situation and it's a new experience for me too because I've never had my contract run out before at any of my previous clubs."

Even though it looked like Dudfield would reluctantly sign a one-year contract just so that he didn’t uproot his family. Now that Peterborough United have confirmed their interest that could be the last nail in his Southend career coffin, as he lives only 20 miles away from there.

Whatever Lawrie decides to do, TLG would like to wish him luck, especially me as I believe that without he’s goals during his loan spell back in the 2003/04 season, the Blues may not be where they are today.
