Defensive duo sign from Colchester!

Blues boss Steve Tilson has decided to not to mess around and get his centre-half and left back at one go, but who thought he'd go to North Essex to get them.

Central defender Matt Heath, 27, joined Col U permanently from Leeds after originally signing on loan.

John White, a mere 23, was born a Farmer and, bar a short loan spell to Stevenage, has been a one club man, making over 100 appearances for them. White can play in several positions but has been used as a left back in recent games.

It would be fair to say that the pair are not at the forefront of chief Farmer Paul Lambert's plans for the new season, while Tilly was getting increasingly desperate in his need to find defensive cover with the Huddersfield game only nine days away as well as the concern over skipper Adam Barrett's injury.

Heath was an unused substitute for Col U in their pre-season friendly against Histon on Tuesday.

White did get a game, but for the reserves at FC Clacton last weekend, and did not travel to Ipswich where the first team were involved in a testimonial match.

Matt was given a 6 by S24 in the 3-3 draw at home to Col U last October after coming on as an early sub for Coyne who had been embarrassed by Blues express train start. He helped steady the ship.

John was given a 7 in the same game, his attacking runs down the left certainly helped turn the tide in the second half.

Only Matt played in the 1-0 win by Southend in the return and he only got a 5 when he was torn apart by the speed of Robinson, oh who will he be facing August 8? He was substituted.
