Leon Cort - has until the end of next week to agree a new deal
Blues manager Rob Newman has today extended the deadline until the end of next week, the 8th of March, for Leon Cort, Darryl Flahavan and Kevin Maher to make up their minds about signing new one year deals with Southend United.

new one year deal is reserve team skipper Dave McSweeney. Damon Searle, Stuart Thurgood and reserve team keeper Daniel Gay have also been told that they have until the end of next week to agree one year deals as well.

Ian Selley currently on loan from Wimbledon has today extended his loan period for another month, midfielder Ian Selley has spent the last three weeks at Roots Hall, and has no reason to return to Wimbledon, where it seems he has no future and is a long way from a first-team place. The former Arsenal man was expected to stay with The Shrimpers for at least another month, and the extension of the deal was a formality.

Selley may well end up finishing the season with Southend United, where he is having his second loan spell. The player has been building up his fitness after a series of injury problems, and the move to the Essex coast has been a good chance to put himself in the shop window.
