Mark Beard - Sent off for violent conduct, will now miss three matches
“The referee didn’t help us today, I asked the referee at half-time about the sending off and he said Mark Beard had stamped on their player and that’s the reason he got sent off, Mark will now be dealt with accordingly by Rob” said David Crown.

Former Blues goal scoring legend Crown was then asked about Blues poor performances in the last three games which were all against clubs in the bottom three, from which the Shrimpers have only taken two points from a possible nine “I knew you were going to ask that, I have said before that apart from the top three clubs in the league, the rest of the division is so open and that there is nothing between the rest of the sides, we need thirty to thirty two points from our last fifteen games to reach the play-off’s, if we perform like we have in the last three games we will not do it, we have to play like we did against Hull City and Mansfield and produce that type of performance”.

Crown continued “we said at half-time that even with ten men they were there for the taking, we said to the players that we had won the first game of the season against Darlington with only ten men so we could do it again, we played well in patches, didn’t take our chances, got caught by the sucker punch, we had good situations from which we should have scored from, and a couple of good first half strikes that went straight at Alan Fettis, a yard either side and they might have hit the back of the net, we have to go on from here and work harder to get the results”.

Crown then finished “ we have now got three away games at Swansea, Cheltenham and Hartlepool, our job is to get the players totally focused and prepared for every single game, if we get eight, nine or ten players getting it right on the day, we will win matches”.
