Paul Sturrock's first match in charge ended in defeat at Princes Park to-night
Harry Crawford and Sturrock, that is son of, young Blair, started up front, and the other new signings all got some match action.
In an attendance of 619, around a hundred were travelling Shrimpers.
After a goalless first half Sturrock sent on seven replacements in a bid to give all his squad game time, but Dartford looked the more threatening.
Danny Harris hit the Southend post with a looping header, but in the 58th minute crossed for Ryan Hayes to convert after a swift counter-attack.
Dartford doubled their lead in the 73rd minute when man-of-the-match Harris set up Adam Burchell to tap in.
There's a fuller report on the official site, which may be as confusing to you as having nothing at all, but it does include news of our new shot-stopper, called 'the goalkeeper'!
It seems Sturrock senior left the team sheet blank, which has confused everybody!
