Having seen Che Wilson, Nicky Nicolau and Lawrie Dudfield turn down contract offers, Steve Tilson will be relived to know that highly rated ‘Keeper, Darryl Flahavan, has confirmed that he is happy with his new contract offer and will be putting pen-to-paper in the next few days.
Darryl told the Evening Echo today "The personal terms of the contract have been sorted and everything should be signed early this week."

Flahavan, who had an eventful battle for the number one jersey with Bart Griemink for the majority of the season, has been at the club since November 2000, when David Webb signed him on a free transfer from Conference side Woking. After becoming a favourite with the fans and playing 130 games for the club, new manager Steve Wignall then made a shocking decision.
The former Colchester Chief released Darryl and Danny Gay in the summer of 2003 and instead signed Carl Emberson and Ryan Robinson. However, when it became apparent that Emberson wasn’t up to the job, Flahavan was re-signed, ironically in November of the same year that he had been released.
Wignall was sacked shortly after, but Flahavan remained and has grown in confidence under Steve Tilson, with a little help from the excellent goalkeeping coach, Lee Turner.
Darryl has worked seriously hard on improving his game since being released by Wignall back in 2003, and is reaping the rewards, having been in consistent form throughout this season and deservedly earning himself a two-year contract.
