Dan Trenkel - Blues to give the Great Wakering Rovers Midfielder another trial

Dan Trenkel who has made two appearances in the Avon Insurance Combination League for the Blues in recent weeks plus the behind closed doors match at Roots Hall last Monday against Peterborough United, has been invited to train for a further two weeks with the Blues first team squad at Boots and Laces starting this Monday.

Trenkel who works in the City of London for an insurance company, will again take annual leave to try and fulfil his ambition of becoming a professional footballer. Great Wakering Rovers manager Alan Hull has given Trenkel his blessing and hopes he makes the grade.

Blues next reserve game is on Wednesday 20th February against Cambridge United at Roots Hall kick-off 2.00pm. Admission is free as usual. Southend United are considering printing a four page programme for the reserve games price 20p.

Meanwhile Ben Smith is on the road to recovery after coming through Monday’s

game with a full ninety minutes performance. Smith will also play for the reserves on Wednesday along with Dan Trenkel.
