Spillane: Signs for Daggers

Spillane; from the Bees to a Dagger joining a Hammer

Dagenham & Redbridge have made their second loan signing of the day with the capture of Mickey Spillane from Brentford.

The 22-year-old defender, and with a name like that he should be tough, quickly follows West Ham striker Cristian Montano through the door at Victoria Road, has joined the Daggers until January 3.

Spillane arrived at Brentford in the summer of 2010 from Norwich, where he started his professional career.

Daggers boss John Still told www.daggers.co.uk: "Mickey is a player I know well, he's a local boy from Woodford and he comes to us with good experience despite still being young. He can play full-back or centre-half and at Brentford a change of manager has seen a change of players and he's a good player who I'm confident is going to do very well for us. An even bigger plus is that he was desperate to come here so I'm delighted to have brought Mickey to the football club."
