Paul Sturrock is shocked by his uncanny likeness to financial guru Goldfinger
The Shrimpers new central defender Graham Coughlan is the latest signing to have played under Blues boss Paul Sturrock, this time at Plymouth and Sheffield Wednesday, he didn't make Swindon for some reason, and he's very pleased to have done so, especially as Luggy seems to be the man with 'the Midas touch.'
Coughlan told www.southendunited.co.uk: "I don't know what it is with myself but I always seem to respond to the Paul Sturrock way. I can't put my finger on it but he's just one of those loveavble characters and might I add he has been very, very successful as well. He just seems to have the Midas touch at any club he seems to progress and I hope to be part of that success again."
Coughlan: 'The smiles are back on peoples faces'
As one of the experienced players Luggy brought him in to help with the coaching and his young 'boys with potential', the Dublin born defender can't wait to get started in what he sees as an 'exciting time', and he already has a UEFA A license from a year ago while working with the Shewsbury Town youth team and reserves.
Graham continued: "I'm not quite ready to hang the boots up - there is life in the old dog yet. My priority will obviously be playing, if selected, but I was made a fantastic offer that was too good to turn down from the manager. I have been at the club a few weeks now and I have enjoyed my time. The smiles are back on peoples faces but it wasn't like that when I arrived. I think the future is looking a lot brighter now than it was perhaps one or two months ago."
It's certainly looking brighter Graham, but many of the Blues faithful would like to hear from Ron and that the bills are going to be paid.
If not I'm sure Mr. Sturrock will have a laser installed in the gym just waiting for a visit from the Shrimpers supremo, maybe even installed with a further loan from the Shrimpers Trust.
'We don't expect you to talk Mr. Martin, we expect you to sign the cheques'
