Corr: Found the back of the net

Barry Corr: 'Both good apparently, I've played against one of em'

And on and on it goes!

But in a new twist on the usual transfer summer chit chat while Wimbledon is still in it's final week and the Indian test series is yet to start is that this update has been tweeted by one of the Shrimpers squad, last season's 21-goal top scorer Barry Corr himself!

On @Barrycorr10 he wrote: 'I think we're not far off signing a utility player on loan and a central midfield player. Both good apparently, I've played against 1 of em.'

Interesting stuff from Big Baz, and when pressed on a touch more info he replied: 'Championship loan, league 2 midfielder. The club are in talks with lots of players but these 2 I hear are pretty close.

The second tier loan is hopefully Crystal Palace midfielder Alassane N'Diaye, at last, while the Shrimpers rumour universe has recently released from Northampton Town Abdul Osman as the prime suspect.

According to Wiki; the wonderfully named Abdul-Haq Seidu Osman is 24 and born in in Accra, the capital of Ghana.

He's a 6 ft central midfielder who began his career at Maidenhead United. After drawing interest from Crewe Alexandra, Osman moved to Gretna in the summer of 2007, signing a 12 month contract with the then SPL side, scoring once against Motherwell.

Young Abdul became a free agent after the publicised troubles at Gretna, attracting interest from a number of clubs, Leeds United, Ipswich Town and Brighton all reported to be keen on him as well as various teams from Scotland, though in June 2008, Osman signed for then League One side Northampton Town after failing a medical with Scottish Premier League side Kilmarnock.

After two years, making over sixty appearances, Osman signed a week-to-week deal allowing him to look at other clubs.

On 22 September 2010, Osman netted the winning penalty kick at Anfield, as Northampton knocked Liverpool team out of the Carling Cup.

In May 2011, along with seven other players, he was told his contract would not be renewed by the club

There has been talk of a possible Osman move to Port Vale but there's been no follow up on that and they brought in a couple of new players themselves Tuesday including a midfielder. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/port_vale/9524455.stm)

Also Corr came up against Osman twice last season, in the 2-1 defeat against the Cobblers at Sixfields last September in which Osman grabbed a goal, and the 1-1 draw in the return at Roots Hall in February of this year.

Blimey, at 6ft 5inc & 6ft respectively we could have a giant midfield, and maybe less club captain Craig Easton and at least one other, Anthony Grant would still be the favourite there, leaving before the new campaign kicks off.

It's always boring to write, but we will all have to wait and see.

However, if Barry isn't aware of some real facts out there and being fed the party line as well, we might just give up and take up bouls at the local park until the Hereford opener on August 6th!
