Corr back on the bench & other Shrimper quotes: 'I thought the fans really got behind the lads'

Neil Harris: remains evens to return for Pilgrims clash

With the elation from Tuesday evening's ten-man victory over the Gills starting to die down we can start looking forward to the next League Two match-up with struggling Plymouth Argyle visiting south-east Essex at the weekend.

A win would take the Shrimpers closer or more likely into the play-off zone and keep touch with the early leaders, another important game, aren't they all!

And Echoman Chris Philllips has been out and about getting copy for Thursday's edition but has been tweeting some selected highlights, so for those S24 followers not connected to the twitterverse, here's what was on offer.

After Gillingham:

Gilbert: 'It's great to be back in the team. Hopefully I can stay there now and we can get a run of clean sheets going.'

Harris: 'I thought the fans really got behind the lads when down to 10 men and I think that helped us get the goal'

Blues boss Paul Sturrock; selected Peter Gilbert over Luke Prosser as he felt young Luke needed a rest.

Refused to say anything about Bilel though, would like to be a fly on the wall when that meeting takes place!

Before Plymouth:

Bomber also confirmed that he remains only 50/50 for the Pilgrims clash even after a week's training'

Update on last season's top scorer Barry Corr, yet to be seen in a Shrimpers shirt this season, though he also returned to kicking a ball around with the lads this week, is that Luggy will start him on the bench if his progress continues and 'play 10 to 15 minutes.'

With Liam Dickinson back from his three-match suspension all is starting to look well, and the importance of picking up the three points while all these strikers, and Lee Sawyer remember, cannot be underestimated.

Four points from nine overall with Bilel, Harry and Blair upfront, could have been a lot worse, and ninth position in the league table, four points behind the leaders, is not to be sniffed at even at this early stage, ask Saturday's opponents Argyle, one point, broke, and stuck on the bottom. (That goal difference could do with a boost though, damn those creepies!)

It could have been us this time last year, though the broke bit still applies, but not as bad as our friends down Devon way.

Well done Luggy and the lads.
