Coping without a coach: 'I would like to have assistance and guidance and help with little things'

Rhys Evans: 'We've had to look after ourselves to a certain extent'

The Shrimpers goalkeeping coach Lee Turner was made redundant from the role earlier this season along with several others as the club's financial problems started to hit closer to home.

And the two shot stoppers who have shared first team duities, Rhys Evans and Glenn Morris, are having to do the best they can between themselves along with youth keepers Daniel Bentley and Luke Chambers.

However, it's the former Chelsea trainee who has broken ranks and spoken out.

Evans told BBC Essex: "We've had to work a lot closer together, arrange our own training and look after ourselves to a certain extent. We try to keep the level of fitness and training that we had going. To justify paying somebody full-time wages to take four people [training], you can understand it. I would like to have that assistance and guidance and help with little things, but in the current climate you understand it and get on with it, it's just one of those things."
