Blues assistant boss Tommy Widdrington highly rated Sean at Salisbury City
Former Gills defender Sean Clohessy was first seen at Princes Park Friday but stayed on the sidelines, as he was also at the Meet the Blues Day Sunday it was fair to say he's in Southend manager Paul Sturrock's thoughts, and will be seen in a Blue shirt Monday evening in the pre-season friendly against Derby County.
We're waiting to hear back from our man in Kent, but he's certainly held in high account by Sturrock's No. 2, ex-Salisbury boss Tommy Widdrington.
Craig Easton: Would be good to see him score at Roots Hall this evening
Let's move on to the new skipper, like his manager another Scot, central midfielder Craig Easton.
Has signed a one year pre-contract with the club after turning down a 'real' offer with Swindon on similar terms, regular first team football seems to be the key that unlocked this transfer, but hardly a move he would have made if the embargo was not to be lifted, or at least the football league allowing these players to turn out when Ron proves, hopefully, the club is actually solvent.
Our Swindon spy Gaz says: "Easton is a solid hard worker just right for League Two campaign and will serve you well."
While boss Sturrock told www.southendunited.co.uk last week: "Craig is someone I know very well and I have worked with previously. He is 31-years-old and has made nearly 400 career appearances so he is certainly experienced. Craig will show a terrific work ethic in matches and he is a natural leader in my opinion. He's not been captain before when we have worked together but I know he will grow into the role at Southend."

Sofiene Zaaboub: Sturrock thought he looked exciting early on v Dartford
The French left winger Sofiene Zaaboub helped guide Swindon to automatic promotion from League Two at the first attempt but fell out of favour when the new Shrimpers boss left the Robins for Plymouth Argyle.
Made some exciting runs on Friday and could be a real asset, especially after being out of league football for over a year.
Gaz again: "Zaboub has moments of world class and will soon be became a fav for you and his name will be sung loudest."
Ryan Hall: Has shown to have a bit of a temper in the past
Potentially a very good signing, left sided midfielder Hall started out as a youth at Crystal Palace with former managers such as Neil Warnock, and even Spud Taylor, loaning him out Lewes, Dagenham & Redbridge and Crawley Town.
Certainly the word of Widdrington had a hand in this one as well.
Ended up at Blue Square South side Bromley and was tried out on trail with Grimsby Town and Hartlepool United.
Obviously prefers being in the South!
Blair Sturrock: Bad luck, inherited his Dad's ears
S24 felt we might escape the signing of Sturrock junior, but it was not to be, and for the second time Daddy rescues young Blair from the clutches of, well, anybody, but in this case, Conference side, Mansfield Town, or possibily even Truro City!
Not exactly a goal machine wherever he goes but our Robins fan Gaz insists he came off the bench a few times to rescue Swindon: "Blair will be interesting as his Dad has his loyalties, but in fairness Blair often came on as sub and saved the day for us scoring late goals."
Last, but certainly not least, but we have to work a bit harder to find a photo, is Tunisian, of French decent, 6ft 3in centre-half Mohsni Belel whom Sturrock says he's a "defender we seen some good things in."
&
A tale of two keepers: One better than the other it seems
Still on trail it seems are the goalkeepers, arguably the most important signing of them all when finally made, who played in north-west Kent last Friday.
They have been identified as ex-Bristol Rovers and Swindon man Rhys Evans, oh no another Robin, & Mikhael Jaimez Ruiz, released by Aldershot.
The consensus of those at the game was that Evans was useful, but Ruiz was awful! Oh well, we'll see if one or both take part against the Rams.
We shall certainly see most of them in the fullness of time of course, as long as Ron pays the bloody bills this time, and the word coming out from Roots Hall is that everything is in place to keep the judge happy come August 2.
S24, and a few thousand of the Shrimpers faithful, truly hope so.
