Mohsni: Late header

Mohsni: 'I've enjoyed playing up front again in pre-season'

Shrimpers star Bilel Mohsni saw red twice last season, and it may have been three if he wasn't taken off in time in the 'friendly' against Ipswich Town!

And whether he starts at centre-back or possibily up front against Hereford United on Saturday at Roots Hall, Blues boss Paul Sturrock has warned him to calm down, something the short tempered French Tunisian finds it hard to do!

Mohsni told www.echo-news.co.uk: “The manager has spoken to me about this but when players are stupid it's hard for me to stay calm. If you're better than me and you win every header and tackle against me then fair play. But there's no need to try and injure me to make it happen. That's what annoys me and it seems that every team has this one stupid player. That gets to me but I know I have to stay calm because teams will start to target me.”

News travels fast, and he says himself there will be plenty of opponents trying to wind him up, so he better take Luggy's advice on board, he'll get to them much more by smashing the back of the net several times next season!

Whether he starts to do that from centre-half or centre-forward, joining Neil Harris as a striker, will depend on the fitness of new signing Liam Dickinson, with top scorer Barry Corr and Blair Sturrock both out injured, and Luggy's mood, the two wideboy and Bomber on his own in the middle didn't seem to work against the Tractor Boys, but youngster Kyle Asante is more than willing to be given a chance.

Whatever, Bilel just wants to get out there and play, anywhere Luggy asks him!

Mohsni continued: “I don't mind helping out up front when the other players are injured. I'm happy to play anywhere the manager wants me to play and I actually played as a striker when I was younger because I was normally the tallest in the team. I don't mind being there and I've enjoyed playing up front again in pre-season. When I play up front I just run but Neil is experienced and can tell me where to run. I've been unlucky not to score in pre-season and I just hope they start to go in for me soon.”

Wherever he turns up the Shrimpers faithful know the former Parisian park player will give 100%, as long as he keeps his feet on the ball and his hands by his side!
