Herd: Came off in the first round cup tie after only 31 minutes

Blues full-back Johnny Herd came off the field of play just after the half hour mark at Gillingham with what has now been confirmed as a hamstring injury.

Not what the Blues boss Steve Tilson needed at the moment, and Christophe at centre half and Grant at left back is not a long term solution!

Tilly told the Echo: "We don't know how bad it is just yet but it's a hamstring injury and there was just no way he could carry on. With the size of the squad we have at the moment it's the last thing we wanted but we will have to wait a little bit longer before we know how long he will be out for."

Wolverhampton left back George Friend was on his way back for another month when he was recalled to Molineux due to the transfer embargo before the game at Carlisle, but he's now in the Championship at Scunthorpe until December, so that's a non-starter!

However, we are awaiting confirmation that Tilly will be allowed to bring any players in on loan this week now Uncle Ron's coughed up the dosh, the Football League could drag it's feet on this.

Anyway, many will believe that a decent centre-half should take a priority, Jean-Yves M'Voto is about to have surgery on his hip and is set to be out until January, before any other position is covered.
