Boli: Could earn stay

Yannick Boli: 'Please Luggy, let me be a Shrimper, I won't ask for too much money'

The Shrimpers reserve-team boss and veteran centre-back Graham Coughlan said in midweek that triallist striker Yannick Boli could earn a permanent deal with the club after scoring again against the Farmers seconds in his side's 4-2 win.

Frenchman Boli followed up his goal in the Blues Two's triumph over Stevenage last week by scoring one, assisting with another, and winning a penalty in the away victory, which sadly Lee Sawyer missed.

Coughlan was impressed enough to say at the time: "Yannick was a real livewire in attack and was certainly a handful for them to deal with. He scored, won a penalty and created another one of the goals, so he did well. But it will be up to the manager if we decide to offer him a deal."

Well, his agent, and it is in their interest of course, has bigged up the possibilty of a deal going ahead, and with rumours that he would break the bank so the move was 'unlikely', it seems that may not be the case.

www.echo-news.co.uk have posted that Boli's agent Noful El Abbassi said: "We're not asking for a lot. He's training again with the team today and I would expect it to be sorted out before weekend."

Depend whose bank they are talking about but is Blues boss Paul Sturrock losing patience with the time it's taking for last season's top scorer Barry Corr to return to full fitness?

Though available on a free transfer Blues boss Paul Sturrock said: '"I have to decide if he can go from playing for Paris Saint Germain to playing at Macclesfield Town on a cold, wet Tuesday night. We're also right on our playing budget so there's plenty to think about."

The old 'cold Tuesday night in Stoke' argument, interesting to see what Luggy decides
 .
The agent also claimed the Shrimpers were still interested in former Tranmere Rovers centre-back Maxine Blanchard, who has also had a reserve outing, which would put him above the ex-Plymouth defender Krisztian Timar who played with Boli against Stevenage and has been reprted as training with the first team squad.

Born in Alençon in the Normandy region of France, Blanchard made nearly 100 appearances in French football before leaving Moulins in June in order to seal a move to England.

Tranmere boss Les Parry handed Blanchard a trial with Rovers and, after spending several weeks at the club, he earned a one year contract. He made his competitive debut as a sub away to Huddersfield, playing in a deep-lying midfield role.

He impressed the Rovers fans at the game with his aerial ability and reading of the game, and was given his first start for the club at centre back in the Carling Cup tie with Swansea City ten days later.
