The Shrimpers will be the first football club to ever highlight this global campaign by wearing these special shirts for the day where they will bear the message 'END POLIO NOW'.
A large number of students from local scholls will be attending to-nights game which has been designated as an 'End Polio Now' Family Day and will join many other fundraising events all over the UK which has a target of £1 million towards polio eradication.
The Rotary Club of Southend-On-Sea has been selling Purple wristbands for £1 embossed with the words 'Rotary - End Polio Now - SUFC' and these will be on sale in the Blues Box Office, the Club Shop, Shrimpers Bar, and around the ground today and afterwards via www.southendonsea.rotary1240.org.
Every £1 raised in this campaign will buy five doses of the special anti-polio vaccine. These children will be protected against polio - forever.
