Barrett: 'Hopefully we can get out of trouble before rebuilding'
Adam Barrett is in his sixth year with Southend United. In that time he's seen a couple of promotions, reached the quarter final of the League Cup, and played in enough memorable matches to fill a book.
However, acoording to an interview with the Echo, he would swap all of this to avoid finishing in the bottom four of this division come May 8th.
Captain Adam told www.echo-news.co.uk: "With everything that has gone on this season I think it would be fantastic if we stayed up. We may not win a trophy if we did it but I actually think it would be the biggest achievement I've had with the club."
To say this has not been the easiest of seasons for Southend is an understatement and playing third tier football next season would certainly be an achievement everyone involved with the Shrimpers could look back on with pride.
He concluded: "It has been a difficult few days but it's been like that all season. It's been a very tough time and we just have to make sure that we all stick together and maybe get a little bit braver and want the ball more. There are plenty of points still to play for though and hopefully we can get out of trouble before rebuilding in the summer."
