Corr: Back injury

Corr: 'I've just never really been able to stay fit'

The Shrimpers top scorer Barry Corr has had his best season for scoring yet, and the Irish born boy now stands on eleven after grabbing three in successive games!

No wonder the scouts are taking a look at the lad, hopefully to no avail.

And according to Corr, who only hit the onion bag six times for League One Exeter City last term, and even though he's missed the odd match due to a continuing back problem, Barry believes the good run is due to finding his fitness on a consistant basis.

Corr told www.echo-news.co.uk: "My games to goals ratio has never been too bad but I've just never really been able to stay fit. At Swindon I think I scored one in every two games but I was only playing 10 or 15 times a season. Last year I stayed fit at Exeter but they were the wrong club for me. This year though I've settled in well and I've also managed to stay fit for most of the games."

Barry has turned out 17 times for the Shrimpers since becoming one of Blues boss Paul Sturrock's multiple summer signings.

And the reason he's played so many games this time around is being a good little worker with the weights.

Corr explained: "Training starts at 10.30 but I get in at nine to start the work I do. I then also stay behind after training has finished to do even more work but it's what I have to do to stay fit so it's all worthwhile. It's good to have 11 goals already, especially as that's my best ever total in the same season. I did once get 100 in the same year when I was a kid but that doesn't really count and I would be very happy to get to 20 this time around."
