Barrett: 'We're still fighting for everything too'

Southend United skipper and all round legend Adam Barrett will be involved in yet another Essex derby next Monday evening at the Weston Homes Community Stadium and accepts 'it's a massive game again for both clubs.'

Captain Adam told www.echo-news.co.uk: 'Colchester are pushing for promotion while we're still fighting for everything too and it has all the makings of another good game between the clubs. I've been involved in a few of these derbies now and I love them, so I'm looking forward to the latest game and it would be superb to go there and cause an upset.'

He even had some interesting thoughts on the Farmers pitch.

Adam continued: 'It won't be easy because Colchester are having a good season and the pitch there isn't the best right now. It doesn't have any grass in some areas but we're going there in pursuit of three points and in good spirits after our good late fight-back against Swindon Town last weekend secured what could be a valuable point for the club. We showed tremendous character to score twice in the last five minutes and we will need to show fight like that against Colchester.'

I wouldn't worry about the pitch Adam, under Boothroyd it doesn't see much of the ball. The Shrimpers will just have to show them how it's done!
