Captain Adam was adamant that referee Mick Russell should not have sent off Christophe for diving.
Barrett told www.southendunited.co.uk: "The key decisions have cost us and I just don't understand how that was a sending off. It was a joke and from where I was it definitely looked like Christophe got caught. He just isn't the type of lad or player to go down when he hasn't been fouled. Without being disrespectful he isn't a fancy winger or anything like that, it was a poor decision - but unfortunately there were quite a few of them - and it had a massive say on the outcome of the game."
However, the Southend centre-half is confident the only way is up: "We showed a lot of character to respond the way we did. And if we keep on playing like that then it won't be long before we move our way up the table."
