Captain Adam: 'Having been in this situation before I wasn't panicking'

The Shrimpers skipper and centre half was always confident that a win was not far away but it was his involvement in Barney's second goal that gave him the most pleasure.

Captain Adam told Blues Player after the game: "For many a year I will be going on about that cross, it's the first time I have used my left foot this year. I'll be running training sessions for the wingers to tell them how to do it."

On the three points he continued: "We needed that first win in the league because we have been a bit unlucky so far this season as performances have been good. It was a tremendous result against local rivals."
