Barney: 'I want to keep my good form going'

12-goal Lee Barnard is the top scorer for club and League One at the moment and with his contract coming to an end in the summer the fear must be there that he'll do a Clarkey and leave on a free.

Barney spoke to the Echo: "I'm really enjoying my football at the moment and want to keep my good form going. The club have mentioned a new contract but there's plenty of time for that and I'm in no rush."

It's enough that Lee has to worry about the 1300-plus mile round trip to play the Cumbrians.

The former Tottenham man continued: "It's a long way to go but we go there with confidence after beating Bristol Rovers last weekend. Hopefully we can get another good result against Carlisle."

Good words and in now way do we doubt the good Lord's sincerity, but we have seen this all before, just last summer in fact with the now Huddersfield skipper Peter Clarke.
