Barnard: 'They have a few of our former players'

The good news this morning that Shrimpers top scorer Lee Barnard should be fit to face the Chairboys at the weekend should cheer up the Southend faithful, and the good Lord himself is looking forward to seeing some friendly faces.

Lee told to the Echo: "I think it's going to be a good game and it's a big one for us too. They have a few of our former players so it would be good to see them again but we have to make sure we approach the match in the right frame of mind."

However, the good Lord also expressed his concerns about his present loan role up front in Tilly's now preferred 4-5-1 formation.

Barney continued: "I'm not going to lie, I do find it frustrating and feel isolated at times but I'm not going to moan about it. I'm a team player and I will continue to work my socks off and chase everything down. It is quite a hard role to play but if that's what is best for the team then I'm certainly prepared to do it.
