Barny: 'I just hope this hip problem soon goes and I can carry on scoring goals'

Well, the fear of playing Barny in the JPT has proved correct, he could be out of Friday night's Southampton game at Roots Hall.

Lee spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk: "It's still a bit sore and I am a bit worried about it. If the game had been last night then I wouldn't have been able to play but I went in for treatment yesterday and hopefully I'll be OK because I really want to play."

Barnard, the League's top striker with 10 goals and scorer of over half of all Southend's, was substituted in the 74th minute at Milton Keynes having taken two seperate knocks to his hip after a season that has seen him with a 100% record so far.

Lee continued: "Things have gone well for me so far this season and it's a massive match against Southampton too so I'm desperate to be out there but we will just have to wait and see what happens. I just hope this hip problem soon goes and I can carry on scoring goals and helping the team get good results."

The odds can't be good with the good Lords track record, which would see Sunderland loanee Roy O'Donovan get another start.

However, Shrimpers will feel frustration at why the injury prone forward started at stadium:mk in mid-week when their were more important matters to be dealt with only three days later.
