Baldwin: 'Not letting in goals are bound to give us a boost'

One of the few good things to come out of Southend's grim goalless draw with Exeter Saturday was the fact we kept a clean sheet, the first since last October and a 1-0 win over Gillingham, 20 matches ago!

Baldwin spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk: "It's a bit of a relief to be honest as I have been here for a while now and we have conceded far too many goals. Little things like not letting in goals are bound to give us a boost at the moment so that gives us something to build on going into Saturday's game."

Oh yes, Carlisle at the weekend. To say a win is vital is an understatement, and putting any thoughts of the summer and a new contract, with Southend or any other club, completly out of his mind, Pat only has thoughts to keep his present club in League One.

The loanee centre back explained: "This is a great club with fantastic supporters and all the lads are doing their best considering the circumstances. Between now and the end of the season we are giving it our best shot to stay up."
