Baldwin: 'We still have to give it everything'

Centre half Pat Baldwin has played 15 times for the Shrimpers since joining on loan from ColU, even being made skipper for the last couple of games when Adam Barrett was out injured.

Having been told he has no future with our Essex neighbours it's not surprising he'll be happy to stay at Roots Hall, whether Tilly will look elsewhere probably depends on how much dosh the Blues boss has to spend, and we still shipped a few goals.

Baldwin told www.echo-news.co.uk: "I have really enjoyed being at Southend even though the results haven't been what we wanted, so why not come back? Training is fantastic here, so we will have to wait and see what happens."

More interesting is the atmosphere in the dressing room after the 1-0 loss to Brighton last weekend that makes relegation to League Two a near certainty.

Along with the Francis admissions it's nice to hear they actually care whatever Uncle Ron thinks of them.

Baldwin continued: "The lads were all really distraught after losing. It's very difficult for us to stay up now but the pressure is off us because of that. We still have to give it everything we've got and enjoy our football. We want to stay in contention for staying up and to do that we need three points."
