Baldwin: 'The spirit here is great and we need to keep sticking together

Nice to see a central defender palying for Southend with some decent facial hair, the first since Paul Clarke?

More importantly he scored on his debut after signing on loan from Essex rivals Colchester United until the end of the season. Only his second ever league goal since scoring er, against Southend at Roots Hall!

What a shame he can't play in next Monday's derby game, we have to hope M'Voto is fit enough to jump a bit higher this time around.

Balders spoke to www.southendunited.co.uk: "I felt it hit my head but I didn't see it cross the line so it was all quite confusing. I don't get many goals though and my only other one actually came against Southend, so it was nice to score for the club as well especially on my debut."

Along with super sub Scott Spencer, who started the ball rolling with an 85th minute goal, Pat's equaliser with a minute left on the clock earned a vital point for his new side.

The tall centre back continued: "I thought we showed great charcter to come back. The spirit here is great and we need to keep sticking together."
