Grant: Late equaliser for Southend

Grant: 'It doesn't look like I'm going to be going anywhere'

Influential midfielder Anthony Grant has attracted interest from several Championship clubs and the signing of Lee Sawyer led many of the Shrimpers faithful to believe he may be a replacement for the popular former Chelsea youth.

Some believed Granty actually wanted to leave during the present January transfer window, not so after a brief statement made to the Echo.

Grant told www.echo-news.co.uk: "I'm still very happy being at Southend United. It doesn't look like I'm going to be going anywhere and I'm focused on doing well here."

Not signed in stone of course, but good enough for now.

The 23-year-old who has been in good form scoring six goals already this season, but now turns his thoughts to Friday evening's vital clash against Buy where the Shrimpers hope to win their first home game since beating the Millers 1-0 in October.

Grant said: "We had a great victory at Rotherham last weekend and we want to go on and build on that now. All games are hard in this league so we will be in for a tough test but we will give it everything we have to come out on top and finally get a win at home."
