Steve Tilson; the bookies favourite to be the next Imps boss

Favourites don't always win of course but the odds are there in black and white, and much to the distress of many of the Shrimpers faithful, former manager, and all round legend, Steve Tilson, could be waving a red and white scarf in front of the media before the end of the week.

Lincoln City chairman Bob Durran is reported to have made a decision to have a new team boss in place before Saturday's game away to Shrewsbury.

However, if Tilly does fall at the final hurdle one present and one ex-Quakers boss could take his place.

With Accrington manager John Coleman signing a new 5-year contract with Stanley the field seems to be between Tilly, another boss on the dole in the guise of Simon Davey, and one who soon could be, Blue Square Conference Darlington manager Mark Cooper!

There were rumours that Cooper had quit the Quakers after his side suffered their third successive defeat at the weekend, they presently sit in 14th place, but this was quickly denied, with the board reported as not allowing Cooper to talk to both Lincoln and another team on the hint for a leader, York City.

We will see.
