A Glover & A Shrimper: 'Tilly will have them fighting for their life'

Jones: 'I don't think I've ever had an easy game at Southend'

Before he went on his travels to the south coast and Somerset, via Scarborough, Nathan turned out at left back for the Shrimpers for three years back in 1997/2000.

At 36 he's still turning out as a player for the Glovers but now focusing very much on being the assistant to Yeovil boss Terry Skiverton.

Nathan has been speaking to BBC Radio Somerset about the weekend game against his former club as well as some memories of Roots Hall going back over a decade.

Jones said: "We know it's going to be a very difficult game. I don't think I've ever had an easy game at Southend. I played there and it was always a good place to play. I enjoyed my time there, but it seems that ever since I've been back with Yeovil and with Brighton - and we were only in the same league as them for one season with Brighton and we got beaten even though we went on to win the league comfortably - Southend were one of the only sides to really beat us that season. So we know it's a difficult game."

He has plenty of respect for his former club and knows the Somerset based club are in for a tough clash.

Jones continued: "Tilly will have them fighting for their life, and Dave Webb is there now. They've got an excellent striker up front for them now in Scott Vernon, who we really admire. They've got good team spirit. They've got people like Adam Barrett who have been there a long time. Mildy we know about, so they have quality and so regardless of whether we think they're in a false position or not, it's going to be a very hard game, and one not for the faint-hearted."
