The Canaries celebrate their success last term
The game between the two sides in August 1955 ended in a 3-1 victiry for the Shrimpers, and the same opposition come back to help celebrate the venue's fiftieth anniversary.

Not only will the game against a side currently in the Premiership be a big draw financially, but those who follow the club up and down the country know the importance of commemorating the clubs history. With Southend’s centurion season fast approaching the Saturday 23rd July date is set to be the first of a number of various celebrations that will take place.

Worthington's men to visit the Hall
The match against the Canaries would be one to look forward to in any case. If Nigel Worthington’s men are in the Premiership then they will be considered to be on the same level as the likes of Thierry Henry and Arjen Robben, but if they are relegated to Championship, then hopefully the teams will be just one division apart. It will also be a great opportunity to see the new players that will be set to arrive at Roots Hall over the summer as well as the talent that is already on show at the Shrimpers.

It is exciting times at Roots Hall whichever way it is looked at. The next two scheduled games is the Championship decider against Yeovil and then the visit of Norwich.
