Steve Wignall leads his men into the new year
However, due to a ridiculous inferiority complex on the part of the Football Data Company, independent websites like ourselves and rest of the footyMAD network are prevented from giving you anymore than just a taster of what is to come - unless of course we want to be hit with a large charge, or worse still, a hefty fine. Never fear though, as throughout the rest of the summer we will be previewing the rest of the Third Division sides on a club-by-club basis, and as soon as the season kicks off on August 9th, remember that we are the only Southend United site to have two reporters at each and every game, as well as the very best coverage of Blues Twos.

Talking of that first day of the season, it will be a home tie that awaits the Shrimpers, who will be facing Cheltenham Town at Roots Hall. The Robins were relegated from Division Two on the last day of the 2002/3 campaign, and are one of the early favourites to go right back up. Our first ever trip to newly-promoted Yeovil Town is on the 15th of November, a cold Saturday afternoon.

There are two new stadiums on the Third Division circuit this year for United, as well as that trip down to the south-west, and our first trip to Hull City's Kingston Communications Stadium is just one month into the campaign; the 13th September. Finally, Darlington are also constructing a 27,500 all-seater ground, and Southend will travel there on the 30th of the same month, a Tuesday night arrangement.

We at The Little Gazette are permitted to provide a link to the forthcoming fixtures as soon as we have one, and that is http://www1.sports2.com/football/fixtures/fixtures.html, but unfortunately we cannot bring you any more news direct to this website. We apologise for any inconvenience but remember to stay with us for the very best coverage of Southend United anywhere on the web.
