He might well be off soon, but right back Simon Francis would leave with lots of personal silverware as he picked up both the Player of the Year and the Southend Junior Shrimpers Player of the Year at the annual Shrimpers Trust Award Evening last Thursday.

Runners up in the main award were Anthony Grant and Steve Mildenhall, with Franck Moussa collecting the Goal of the Season for his strike against Walsall on 23rd March.

The Moose beat Lee Barnard, (against Bristol Rovers at home in October), and Francis Laurent, (the injury-time winner at Brighton & Hove Albion in September).

Harry Crawford won the Youth Team Player of the Year with Kyle Asante and Marcus Milner second and third respectively.

The Trust's top coach travellers were handed commemorative awards having completed 7,948 miles watching Blues.

Scott Barber, Alan Gifford, Lesley Hicks, Dean Overall, Gaye Overall, Keith Overall, Warren Sadler and Terry Slater were those to have travelled the entire distance, while Nathan Howlett, who clocked up 5,114, was the top junior traveller.

A full report on the evening including pictures of the presentations will appear on www.shrimperstrust.co.uk over the weekend.

Many of the Shrimpers faithful in attendance, with the sighting of loanee centre back Pat Baldwin at the bar raising discussion that a contract offer could be in the post.

Also striker Scott Spencer confirming that he's actually signed one; good news, though nothing from the club yet.
