Whites win over Walker

Walker: Has his manager's backing

James 'Luke Newton' Walker: Dropping down the leagues, but we're always have Borient

There was a stage when the Shrimpers faithful thought they had a real winner in James Walker, certainly Tilly did, but it was never ever to be and being injured every other week didn't help.

There were a couple of fleeting cameos, a fantastic volley (against Swindon was it?), and that tremendous last minute equaliser against Leyton Orient after coming on as a sub, as he often did towards the end of his time at Roots Hall, will always be remembered, I was walking towards the exit at that time and caught it just before leaving!

And now, after never getting a league career going again, James first ended up at Woking, who released him, but after a successful trail perioid at Blues Square South side Dover Athletic, who have had our own Harry Crawford on loan, have offered him a contract.

Whites boss Martin Hayes was impressed by Walker who played in Dovers 2-1 defeat at Ebbsfleet last Saturday when he was one of four triallists in the starting line-up.

Hayes said: "James has never quite made it at a League club and he became disillusioned and drifted around a bit but I am happy he has agreed to join us. He is hard-working and a goalscorer, and it means we’ve got four good strikers now.

Best of luck mate, hope it works for you this time around, the talent is certainly there.
