Sorry is not the hardest word: King apologises

Well it didn't seem like coming after Uncle Ron's blog but Mr. King has at least accepted his utterings on Monday might have been a little rushed.

At least now he's actually seen the CCTV footage and has made the following statement which you can read in full here:
www.southendunited.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10444~1637393,00.html

However here are the highlights;

"The CCTV footage on further inspection does not clearly show that SUFC fans were "fighting" amongst themselves but rather scrambling and pushing in order to get to the four Leicester City supporters who, of course, should not - as the Chairman rightly points out - have been in those seats in the first place.

"Whatever the position I accept the responsibility for the statement made on Monday as incorrect having been based on information I received which itself has proved to be inaccurate.

"I apologise if I have upset supporters who genuinely come to SUFC to watch a match and support the team. This of course was not intended and I hope supporters know that my mandate is to simply ensure behaviour within the ground does not infringe the enjoyment of others
".

Calls for his resignation may cool down now but honestly, with a chief executive like that, and remember he did not cover himself in glory over the Scunthorpe postponement at the Hall earlier this season, Uncle Ron will have one hand tied behind his back whatever PR offensive he attempts on the fans.
