Sodje plans to remind Gills what their missing

"Keep cool man, I could be playing at the Hall again next season"

The Nigerian defender is dreaming of scoring the winning goal at Priestfield on Saturday in game that could prove pivotal in Bury's hopes of avoiding the playoffs.

Alan Knill's side looked to have moved back into an automatic promotion spot on Saturday, only for Exeter to leapfrog them with a last gasp winner at Lincoln. But Sodje is convinced Bury will secure a place in the top three and would love to do so on his old stomping ground.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News Sodje said: "We will get automatic promotion. Next weekend we will win and I will be getting the winner. It's no problem. They are a good side but we have shown what we can do. We don't fear anybody."

Sodje signed for Bury in the summer after having his contract terminated by Gillingham and despite the Shakers proving the surprise package in League Two this season, he insists he always expected to be pushing for promotion - as he told Knill during his contract negotiations.

Saturday's 3-0 win against Macclesfield ensured Bury will at least be involved in play-offs, but Sodje has set his sights much higher.

He continued: "I said if I'm coming here we're going up. He said I was crazy, but I said I want another promotion before I retire. I know we are in the play-offs now but it is not good for us because when you've come this far and lose out in the final, it is really hard. But I believe we can get automatic."
