Pound a pint should get Roots Hall roaring!

The Blue Voice

A pint of Fosters, Strongbow, John Smith or even a glass of wine for the ladies will be on offer for just a quid during a 45-minute window between 18.00 and 18.45 in the Shrimpers Bar, Far Post, Groundsman's Arms and the West Stand Bar at Roots Hall, not sure about the latter as they haven't got any draught, but it's very decent of the club and one that will be taken advantage off by your correspondant.

However, of more importance to fans organisation the Blue Voice is that the Shrimpers faithful, in what should be the biggest gate of the season since Hereford on the opening day, get behind their side in a way not heard so far in the present campaign, especially as three points over second placed Shrewsbury Town would see United top of League Two for the first time in five years!

A Blue Voice spokesman told www.southendunited.co.uk: "On Friday we urge all supporters to bring along one of the many flags that have been handed out over the years or some ballons to create a lively atmosphere. Southend's chief executive officer Tara Brady has made a donation from his own pocket and we have started the ball rolling by purchasing some items. But we want the whole crowd to back the boys 100 per cent from the first whistle to the last."

As well as flags and balloons; streamers, confetti cannons and, yes, beach balls, it's certainly the right weather for it, will all be allowed through the gates!

It's carnival time!

So grab a mate, a relation, the guy next door, blimey, even the wife, and sing your hearts out for the lads, there should be a decent away following from Shropshire even with the Friday evening travelling so a great atmosphere will be guaranteed, helped by a cheap round or three of course!
