Macca: 'Southend really did become my second home'
Sadly, that second home is moving to South London, no not Millwall and no £200k we could have got in January, as Alan McCormack will be playing for Charlton next season in League One, where he has signed until the summer of 2012 for nothing!
The Dublin-born midfielder Alan McCormack, along with the rest of the first team squad and most of the staff, found his pay packet not appearing in the bank at the end of the month on a regular basis.
Everyone's favourite rottweiler felt he had no choice but to give the club with 14 days notice for persistent breach of contract and quit the Shrimpers.
Macca told www.echo-news.co.uk last week: "The way we have been treated in the last six months can only be summed up in one word and that's disgraceful. When you work hard all week you expect to be paid at the end of it, and there was just no communication either. We tried to keep on battling but the problems made it harder. It's a sad way to have left the club because I did have some fantastic times at Southend and it really did become my second home."
Not any more mate and once again, the best of luck and thanks for the memories, especially that goal at Preston!
