Adam Barrett: Once a Shrimper, now a Cherrie
Former Shrimpers skipper, centre-back, left-back, all round legend, and a jolly good bloke to boot, has been chatting to the football league about his progress now with League One AFC Bournemouth, managed by another ex-Blue in Lee Bradbury.
The first question was 'What do you remember about your first ever match?', and the Shrimpers were mentioned in dispatches.
AB: 'Playing for Plymouth Argyle against Southend United in the first game of the season, It was away and I scored after 20 minutes. We went down to ten men and lost 2-1'
Must have been August 7th, 1999; Scott Houghton and Neil Tolson for the Shrimpers:

Q: When did you realise you had a chance to progress in the game?
AB: When I got offered a YTS at Leyton Orient
Q: Which coach had the biggest influence on your career?
AB: Steve Tilson
Q: What did you spend your first wage packet on?
AB: A night out to celebrate.
Q: Does your squad number have a special meaning to you?
AB: Number 6 has always been my favourite but there is no special meaning to it. (especially as he's got No.5 at Dean Court!)
Q: Who did you last swap shirts with?
AB: Frank Lampard
(Stamford Bridge or Roots Hall, I wonder? - WS)
Q: If you stay in the game at the end of your career, what will you do?
AB: I'd like to be a Coach first, then maybe go into management.
Ex-Captain Adam, a future Shrimpers boss, why not?
Think he'd do a good job.
