Damien Scannell: Believes Daggers will win again soon

League Two rivals Dagenham & Redbridge, relegated to the fourth tier last season, went down to a fifth successive league defeat on Saturday as they lost 2-1 at fellow strugglers Northampton Town. It represents a far cry from the club's start to the season when they won three and drew one of their opening five games.

But former Shrimpers wideboy Damien Scannell is determined to remain positive, telling www.bdpost.co.uk: "We've played against Morecambe and Rotherham, you'd say the best teams in the league, and we've put up a good fight against them. It's early - three or four wins and you're back up into the play-offs. For quality in the team, we're one of the better teams in the league, we're just not playing well. After a couple of games I've come in and felt down, but I think we can take a lot of positives out of Saturday. I don't like to use the word luck, so it's been unfortunate."

Haven't played your former club yet Scanners mate.

For the record, that will happen soon enough, in the JPT away next Tuesday, while the league games take place; Saturday, November 15th (away) & Monday, January 2nd (home).

Meanwhile, a Daggers side made up of first-team and academy players and including Shrimpers striker Harry Crawford drew 4-4 against a similar West Ham outfit on Tuesday afternoon, with substitute Dwight Gayle grabbing a brace, he had replaced Harry in the second half, along with goals from DJ Green and Gavin Tomlin.
