A tale of two loanees: Former Shrimpers strikers find somewhere new to try their luck

Antonio German: Off to Somerset

Let's face it, we've seen better, which means they will break all scoring records at their new clubs!

Former loanee strikers Antonio German, he's the one that got the goal, a penalty against Macclesfield Town, and Waide Fairhurst, he scored bugger all, have joined League One Yeovil Town, two points outside the relegation zone, and League Two rivals Hereford United, three points outside the bottom two, respectively.

Desperate moves, possibily, with players so young, but clubs will take whatever gamble they have to and sign anyone that they believe can find the back of the old onion bag, ask Luggy, even if there's no real evidence thay can do it.

Antonio turned out six times as a Shrimper, mainly coming on a substitute, after he signed last November with a promising reference from parent club Queen's Park Rangers boss Niel Warnock who told us several clubs were after him at the time.

There's no doubt he's a talented teen with a touch of pace about him, but expecting him to score a steady supply of goals in a side under pressure could be asking a lot.

Glovers boss Terry Skiverton told BBC Radio Somerset: "I've watched him about seven or eight times. He's always done well, and he's always been quite close to the first team squad. The last game I went to watch was against Charlton. For me, it's a real good coup to get him in."

What sort of coup, some turn out more successful than others, we will have to wait and see, or more accurately, they will!

19-year-old German is the Glovers 16th loan signing this season, blimey, and should be in the squad for the weekend game at Dagenham & Redbridge.

At least Antonio will know the way to Essex, it's the home games at Huish Park he could that could be a problem.

Fairhurst: Set for Shrimpers switch

Waide Fairhurst: Off to Herefordshire

German joined two days after Doncaster Rovers striker Waide Fairhurst went back to the Yorkshire Championship club, having made a couple of appearances only, the rest of his time spent on the bench, and no goals, it wasn't a huge surprise to the Blues faithful.

However, the 21 year old will be in the Hereford United squad for their game against Cheltenham Town on Saturday and Bulls boss Jamie Pitman, who has turned the club around since he took over but they still find themselves fighting relegation into the conference.

Pitman told www.herefordunited.co.uk: "Doncaster think a lot of Waide and only last summer gave him a two year contract. I'm sure he's got some goals in him and it's good to have him onboard. Waide's a goal-scorer and will work very hard. He's played a bit at this level and did well at Shrewsbury. He will hopefully give us an extra dimension up front."

4 strikes in 10 league games for the Shews proves he does know the way to goal, however Waide didn't show anything like that form at Roots Hall, the formation he was asked to play in maybe didn't help.

So best of luck Yeovil & Hereford, who knows, they could turn into gold.

All we do know is that in this crazy world of football, with Kane Ferdinand attracting Championship clubs interest after half a dozen games and Bilel Mohsni almost off to the Premiership in January, anything is possible!
