There's a 6ft scoring machine out there Tilly, just go get him

2009/10, my 43rd season.

Lot to look forward to, certainly cheaper away travel with a very Southern looking League One, so Millwall to stay down and Gillingham to come up, though the beers better in Shrewsbury.

Can we do it, promotion that is? We've been promised earlier signings and Brushy has certainly come out with the statements earlier this time around. Once we see talk about diamond formations and clubs holding on to players before pre-season training you'll know were finished!

However, I think we can, let's just try and pick up a few more early points while avoiding the traditional Christmas slump. Any team will have a bad patch, I thought MK Dons were bankers a couple of months ago, we just have to make sure it's as short as possible and pick up a few more points while it's happening. A more competitive goal difference please, those 3-0 defeats must dry up.

I don't think there's a Peterborough or MK Dons coming up this year, luckily I can delete this come next May, and I can't see a Leicester amongst Norwich, Southampton or Charlton. All shell shocked, as well as minus 10 points for the Saints, they will be beatable, Norwich is arguably the best bet.

Biggest annoyance from the teams still here outside Yorkshire, bloody Farmers I'm afraid.

No, it's all to play for, I just wish Leeds had buggered off, they must get it right eventually and I do rate Grayson, they just might be a touch less arrogant about it this time. No, I'm joking, Leeds fans less arrogant that is, they can go up but with a win in the last game, no 10 points clear by Christmas, it'll be unbearable!

If the club's true to it's word re earlier signings, we don't have any shock departures, if any do go they'll replaced as quickly as possible by similar quality, we can be in there in the mix with anyone and not need to win all our last 15 games.

The central defender thing has been done to death and we'll just have to wait and see how that pans out. If it's true the management believe Clarkey is as good as gone and possibly that Dervite is out of range, they must have some ideas on who they want. Let's make it a choice three or four, not just the one we get a 'he missed out on him' quote as he goes to Milton Keynes for more dosh.

What worries me is that this area could be the new season's 'problem' if we get early suspensions or any late injuries al la Macca last July which eventually led to Tilly playing Grant and the Moose together with not a great deal of success. (If Clarke does go, I hope it's soon or just sign the bloody contract!  We don't want another Bailey situation.)

This is a good squad that needs some fine tuning. Just no Paytner's in August and Barratt and Sankofa starting as centre-backs because we weren't on the ball. The loan system is fine for a club of our size and wage limitations for another Harding or Sawyer but again, let's get in early enough and not after we've lost four in a row.

The position I really would like to see movement, whoever comes and goes, a big goal scoring centre-forward. It's OK having Barny, Dougie and the Frenchman running about, (of course keep Theo if we can, as for Walker, discuss), and a joy they all are when fit and on form, but a Simon Cox, £200,000 from the reserves of Reading, (not actually Simon Cox, I think we've missed out on him and I'm not sure we have a million to spare anyway, or, actually, 200 grand), a Leon Clarke with better attitude say, would be worth his weight in gold. Revell did some sterling stuff at times last season but he will not get you 20 goals.

Easy, go get him Tilly.

Oh, and a good left footed wide player as well with a more experienced, improved Scannell on the right to get those crosses over would be a bonus, but hey, I'm not greedy.

Just don't panic, still 83 days to August 8.

Thanks for your support and have a great summer.
