Burslem: The mother town of the six cities that amalgamated to form Stoke-on-Trent
1996, and the sadly departed Jeroen Willem Boere had scored for the Shrimpers at Vale Park, but we still lost 2-1, and that was the last time I tasted a beer in Burslem; time to have another go.
Local Beer
Titanic. Founded in 1985, with the recpmmended choice being White Star'; light, refreshing and hoppy, but weiging in at an interesting 4.8%!
Club Bar
Not the last time we went, but with so much choice close by, who cares!
The Bulls Head; 14, St. Johns Square, ST6 3AJ.
The only pub tied to the Titanic brewery, so you should have a decent choice on Saturday.
Has two rooms, one with a juke box and bar billiards, the other a quieter lounge and only ten minutes walk from the ground.
No food, just good beer, but not unsurprisingly get's busy before the game.
Post Office Vaults; 3, Market Street, ST6 3AA.
Er, it was actually a postie, and a very small one at that, seating for a dozen at the most.
Should find a decent guest beer before the game, recommended for a quickie.
Pack Horse Inn; Station Street, Longport, ST6 4NA.
As you can imagine, not a bad first stop for those coming in by train at Longport.
A landlord who knows his footy and his beer, try his weekly 'choice', and we're told it serves up some very good pub grub.
Bulls Head & Post Office Vaults: Get on Newcastle Street you're find your way to the ground and both these pubs around Queen Street.
Longport Station: Bottom left, blue blob. Pack Horse Inn: Station Road is right outside the blue blob.
Vale Park Stadium: Top right, between Bycars Lane and Hamil Road.
