Shrimpers youth signs on as a Dagger

My God, he only looks twelve, but he's joining Damien as a Dagger

We've swapped divisions and now Dagenham & Redbridge have nicked a second Shrimper but one slightly younger than winger Damien Scannell this time around.

Centre-half Dean Reynolds has decided to try his luck at Victoria Road and we at S24 wish him all the best with his new club, might even see him back on loan one day!

Anyway, below is what the Shrimpers Trust youth section have on the lad, maybe a touch out of date, but it gives an idea on what we've lost.

DURAN REYNOLDS

Age Group: Second Year Scholar
Favoured Position: Centre Half
Other Positions: Left Back
Previous Clubs: Histon, Cambridge United
SUFC U18 Debut: 24th November 2007 vs. Peterborough United (a) - Football League Youth Alliance Cup
SUFC U18 Career (to start of 2009/10 season): 23 Games, 2 Goals

As starts to a career with a new club go, Duran Reynolds endured one of the worst. Having joined the club from Histon in October 2007, he made his first start at Peterborough United in a Youth Alliance Cup fixture, and promptly suffered a broken collarbone.

Restored to the team in February, the blonde-haired blocker then repeated the feat, though he has refused to let that affect him.

Reynolds finished third in the Shrimpers Trust SUFC Youth Team Player of the Year reckoning in 2008/9 after moving into the centre of defence from his usual full-back position.

It appears that a more central role is destined for the tall defender with the sweet left foot, with Reynolds featuring for the first-team during their 2009/10 pre-season campaign.

Unfortunately, an ankle injury meant that he was forced to sit out the opening weeks of the competitive season.
