Marcus Milner: 'It was a good experience to play for the first team '

He started the season with the under-18's but ended it playing at St.Mary's for the first team in the 3-1 defeat in Southend's final League One game of the season.

Having signed a one-year development with the Shrimpers and with injuries limiting Tilly's choice of players warming the bench, Marcus was welcomed into the tough world of professional football earlier than he may have expected!

Marcus told Blues Insider: "It was a good experience to play for the first team and a good taste for me. It was brilliant to be involved in the last game of the season at Southampton; it's a big stadium and was packed. I was nervous beforehand, but it's what I want to do and I enjoyed it. It makes me want to push on and work even harder to be in and around the first team and get the chance to travel to those sort of stadiums again. I felt like I was getting better every game for the Under-18s last season and my knowledge grew. It had its ups and downs, but that's football and I think it was a good season for me."

He's looking forward to hopefully training with the first team as well as possibily going out on loan to gain even more experience, the Moose going to Wycombe certainly helped his game, maybe Spud Taylor can help out again now he's manager at Bradford!

Marcus would certainly jump at the chance: "It will also be good if I get the chance to go out on loan, because it will give me the chance to compete against physical players and it will strengthen my game and that will help to make me a stronger player. I'm going to work hard on my programme over the summer and push myself to be in the best condition when I come back for next season. My goal is to keep pushing on at Southend to help me progress."
