F.A. Youth Cup: Young Shrimpers enter the Lions Den

First it was a Youth Alliance Cup group match that Southend Under-18's lost 4-1, then a couple of weeks ago they were defeated 2-0 in a League game.

The young Shrimpers will hope they don't complete an unwelcome hat-trick when they travel to Millwall after being drawn against the Lion Cubs in the first round of the F.A Youth Cup.

The tie will take place at the New Den this evening, Tuesday, November 3rd, kick-off 19.00.

Tickets for the game are £3 for Adults and £1 for Children and can only be bought on the night at the ground.

Head of youth Ricky Duncan told the official site: "The FA Youth Cup is a perfect stage for them to shine. This is a competition we always look forward to and it's great to play at first team grounds under the lights. There are also places up for grabs to be with the first team which might not be ideal because you want them to move up when they are ready. But it's still a great opportunity for the boys and one they should be looking to take."

Meanwhile, the young Lions reached the fourth round last season before losing to Plymouth Argyle 3-2.

At least two of the tonight's side, coached by Scott Fitzgerald, have made their senior debut, Kiernan Hughes-Mason and John Marquis. While Omar Beckles and Danny Fitzsimons have been unused substititues.

The winners will play non-league Oxford City or Gloucester in the next round.
