They might be stinging you with an increased gas or electricity bill at the moment, but cheer up as the tempature drops to minus 17, npower are going to spend your hard-earned on a brand new community initiative, and Southend United are getting involved.

£2m is going to be spent over three years as communities around the UK's 72 League grounds will vote on how the money should be spent to make the most impact in their local area.

Three Shrimpers have been choosen to support three projects aimed at children, and you can decide which one gets the nod.

1) Josh Simpson - A 'Respect' training workshop for 10-year olds run in schools with a focus on team work and citizenship.

2) Craig Easton - Improvement/clean up of a local park into a more football friendly space.

3) Anthony Grant - Football skills training for 4-6year olds run by the club's community coaches, and the one here at S24 are hoping wins the day.

Votes will be collected until the end of December with the club's Community and Educational Trust, a registered charity, working with the utility to make sure everything is implemented correctly with the public's choice before the end of the season.

You will have to leave an e-mail address but a small price to pay, you can soon stop them chasing you, for a worthy cause.
